Intel Capital-backed online pharmacy network HealthKartPlus expands to Bangalore

HealthKartPlusOnline pharmacy network and medicine application HealthKartPlus, owned and operated by Gurgaon-based Aquamarine HealthCare Pvt Ltd, has announced the expansion of its drug delivery services to Bangalore. The company said in a press release that it would soon expand to other metro cities in the country in a phased manner.

"HealthKartPlus has received good reviews in Delhi/NCR for its service and utility as a pocket chemist app. This is a one of a kind service in India and Bangalore, being the technology hub of the country, is the obvious choice for our second location," said Healthkart founder Prashant Tandon, a Stanford University graduate.

Founded in March 2011, HealthKartPlus is a generic drug search engine which enables users to find the cheapest medicines. The firm claims that its database has more than one lakh medicines from most of the brands available in India as well as their cost effective substitutes. A free-to-use platform, it connects local pharmacies directly to consumers and also provides consumers with value-added information about the medicines. It also keeps consumers informed on how their medicine works, explains the side effects, interaction with other drugs and potential contraindications, besides giving information on more economical substitute available for the same.

In June this year, HealthKartPlus raised an undisclosed amount in funding from Intel Capital. The company also offers a free app on Android, iOS and Windows 8 platforms.
