Homegrown e-commerce major Flipkart has extended its own payment gateway service PayZippy to end users. It had launched PayZippy for merchants in July this year under a separate firm Flipkart Payment Gateway Services (FPGS) Pvt Ltd. The B2C version of PayZippy allows customers to store their card details and make payments on partner merchant sites. It has also tied up with merchants to give offers like cash backs, discounts on transactions, and gift vouchers to initial customers of the service.

"With PayZippy we have actually reduced the time taken for making online payments by 50 percent. We are expecting at least 150,000 customers to sign up for this service within the first month and our target is to get 1 million customers by next June," said Mekin Maheshwari, head-payments and digital media, Flipkart.

Initially, in addition to Flipkart, PayZippy is also available on MakeMyTrip, BlueStone, Yepme, Zansaar, Trendin, Justeat, Bluestone, LensKart and Travelyaari. The B2B version launched earlier this year enabled card payments for domestic merchant websites and mobile sites. Flipkart as a group had registered Flipkart Payment Gateway Services Pvt Ltd last year along with another entity Flipkart Marketplace. It unveiled its marketplace, which enables third-party sellers to list their products on its website and sell directly to consumers, earlier this year.
