WECHATTencent-owned social communications app WeChat has launched 'WeChat games' with its version 5.1 release. To begin with, the company has launched four game titles, including Gunz DAsh, 2Days' Match, Craz3 Match and Pencil Pilot. Users can discover the games on WeChat and can download the same from their respective app stores.

While the basic games are free, users can buy add-on items through in-app purchases. They can share their scores and post achievements, and since the games are enabled with location-based services, users can also challenge their nearby friends and other users on WeChat. Recently, WeChat's rival Line Messenger had announced 25 games for India.

The company has also announced a partnership with Getit Infomedia's AskMe with the launch of 'Official Account - AskMeSearch' on WeChat, which will enable users to do free location-specific, text-based local searches on their smartphones. WeChat users will be able to access online information on SMEs across local search, deals and classifieds through their WeChat application. It will provide information on trending restaurants, deals of the day, and also feature classifieds on vehicles, mobile, property and jobs. In addition, for the first time SME/merchants would also be able to reach out to their audience on WeChat.
