Capgemini Invent, the consulting and digital transformation arm of French IT services firm Capgemini, has launched a new connectivity platform that makes use of artificial intelligence, analytics and creative design expertise to assist automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
In a statement, Capgemini said that Smart Mobility Connect will help these OEMs identify new business opportunities, accelerate implementation speeds and increase customer satisfaction.
“In this era of hyper-connectivity, everything about the way we buy, own and use a vehicle is transforming," said Rainer Mehl, managing director of manufacturing at the automotive and life sciences division for Capgemini Invent. “Consumers expect a digital relationship with their car that is as personalised and seamless as their regular online interactions, and OEMs must keep pace to meet and exceed these expectations.”
The firm said the new offering comes at a time when automotive OEMs are facing massive industry disruption and new challenges that are altering their businesses.
"The advent of emerging technologies and continuous innovation means that OEMs need to transition from being pure product companies to placing customers at the heart of their business. To do this successfully, OEMs need to lead coordinated transformation across all areas of their business: strategy, operations, technology and culture," Mehl explained.
Capgemini Invent also said that the new platform is based on three core pillars. The first is a connected customer service that will use advanced technologies and real-time data to provide actionable insights that heighten the impact of customer experience and deepen customer engagement.
It further said that connected services and products will use data and insights to identify high-potential areas for new connected services.
The firm is further targeting a connected ecosystem service that will enable businesses to define their future positioning within the digital value chain and activate their vision through carefully designed and agile business and operating models.
