OYO to hire over 3,000 employees to strengthen India ops
Gurugram-based hospitality chain Oravel Stays, which runs OYO Hotels and Homes, is strengthening its workforce in India by adding more than 3,000 employees.
The company plans to invest $20 million by the end of 2019 in India and South Asia to double down on its expansion strategy and improve customer experience, it said in a statement.
OYO currently has over 9,000 employees and plans to add 3,000 employees across business development, operations, service, sales and enterprise partnerships.
“With the addition of over 3,000 employees over the next six months (H1 2020), we are reiterating OYO’s commitments towards adding value to the country’s hospitality industry by continuing to provide a great experience at an affordable price to guests while building strong relationships with asset owners,’’ said Aditya Ghosh, chief executive officer- India and South Asia, OYO Hotels and Homes.
OYO is currently present across more than 300 cities in India and has over 10,000 franchised and leased hotels.
It had recently appointed Mandar Vaidya as the chief executive officer for Southeast Asia and the Middle East.
Earlier this month, the company had promoted Gaurav Ajmera, head of its northern region operations, as the new chief operating officer (COO) of India and South Asia.
Last week, Oyo announced a $332 million expansion for its Amsterdam-headquartered home rental platform OYO Vacation Homes to deepen its reach in the European vacation rental market.
