Mumbai-based venture capital firm Orios Venture Partners has appointed Rajeev Suri as managing partner.
Suri will be involved with portfolio companies on business growth, brand management, team building and leadership development, an official statement said.
Suri has experience of over two decades in the technology industry and has worked with Infosys, Reliance Jio and Vuclip.
“He will be an important element to our leadership team to further enhance Orios’ position in the early-stage technology venture industry. As the investor ecosystem matures, with more investors considering high growth tech opportunities, we are all set for the perfect storm in this ecosystem,” said Rehan Yar Khan, managing partner, Orios Venture Partners.
Suri completed his graduation in mechanical engineering from Bharathiar University and his MBA from IIM, Bengaluru.
“I am very excited about the positive prospects facing Indian startups. The technology, telecom, internet and payments tsunami that’s sweeping across the country presents big new opportunities in a wide range of industries. It’s already resulted in 35 unicorns and millions of new jobs. As this pace accelerates, I am thrilled to be able to identify, mentor and build new disruptors,” said Suri.
Orios Venture Partners, launched in 2013, is seed-stage VC fund that invests in India-focused consumer tech and non-tech start-ups and businesses. Some of the startups in which it has invested include Pharmeasy, GoMechanic, Country Delight and BeatO.
Last month, it had launched #Misfits Cohort 3, an India-bound scale-up programme for seed-stage startups.
The programme will see the investment firm putting $50,000-$1.5 million seed capital in each startup along with the guidance from entrepreneurs like Dharmil Seth from Pharmeasy, Chakradhar Gade and Nitin Kaushal from Country Delight, Gaurav Hinduja from Capital Float, Sanjay Nadkarni from Babyoye and Yash Sehgal from BeatO.
