Deepak Abbot, senior vice president of Paytm, has resigned from the company. 

Abbot joined Paytm in the role in 2016, prior to which he had worked with the company for a year between 2013-14. He was previously the chief operating officer at Getsmartapp. 

The company did not comment on the development.

Paytm, however, announced the appointment of Abhinav Kumar as vice president of product marketing. He will be reporting to Harinder Takhar, CEO, Paytm Labs. In his previous role, Kumar was responsible for growth in the India market for hotel search site Trivago. 

“Abhinav's skill-set is what we look for when we want to hire external talent. His agility will assist us further in continuing to be dominant in payments as an industry leader,” said Takhar in a statement issued by the company on the appointment. 

Kumar is a digital marketing strategist and expert and was the face of Trivago’s social media campaign.

"My mandate is to continue the great growth story in India with a data-driven approach and extend it to other parts of the globe as well,” said Kumar as part of the statement.

Paytm has seen multiple changes in senior management. The company appointed former Goldman Sachs executive Amit Nayyar to lead its financial services business in August. 

The One97 communications-owned unicorn had announced the elevation of chief financial officer Madhur Deora as president.

One97 Communications reported a net loss of Rs 3,959.64 crore for the financial year 2018-19 compared to Rs 1,490.47 crore in the previous year.
