Hybrid cloud data solutions provider NetApp has appointed Ravi Chhabria as the managing director of its Global Centre of Excellence (GCoE) in India.

In the new role, he will be responsible to strengthening the innovation culture at the NetApp GCoE in India. Anil Valluri will continue in his role as the president for India & SAARC for the NetApp sales entity, the company said in a statement.

Prior to getting appointed as MD, Chhabria  served as head of an innovation-driven engineering organisation responsible for NetApp’s big data platform, analytics, software and tools that generate insight using machine learning to improve operational outcomes for NetApp and its customers.

Chhabria has been with NetApp for 14 years. Prior to joining NetApp, he worked with technology firms such as Sun Microsystems Inc., Silicon Graphics Inc. and other tech startups across the domains of product engineering, product management and general management.

“India is a crucial center for NetApp in terms of delivering growth and value to the company. With data-driven technologies such as artificial intelligence and DevOps leading the digital transformation wave in India, it is an exciting time to take on this responsibility,” said Chhabria.

Chhabria holds a Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Bangalore University, a Master’s in computer science from Penn State University and an MBA from Santa Clara University in Silicon Valley, California.

NetApp is building on its cloud and artificial intelligence solutions. In June, it had announced a slew of solutions and services that will allow customers to adopt and consume cloud more on their terms.

In May, it had announced the opening of a new artificial intelligence (AI) center of excellence in Bengaluru with chipmaker Nvidia.
