San Jose headquartered digital cloud security provider Zscaler has appointed Sudip Banerjee as the director of transformation strategy for Asia Pacific and Japan.

He will oversee the application of the company’s solutions at the client site, the company said in a statement.

Earlier, Banerjee was the group CTO of financial services company Reliance Capital, heading its digital transformation initiatives for core operations, including lending, insurance and asset management.

With over 25 years of experience, he was also the COO of Reliance General Insurance, vice president of information technology (IT) at GE Money and a SAP consultant at PwC, the statement said.

“Sudip (Banerjee) brings to the table domain expertise in the financial services industry, combined with deep dive experience in driving digital transformation programmes, public cloud software-as-a-service adoption and re-architecting network infrastructure for enhanced user productivity and improved security posture,” Scott Robertson, vice president for Asia Pacific and Japan at Zscaler, said.

“As our first ever director of transformation strategy for Asia Pacific, Sudip brings exceptional regional market knowledge to Zscaler as well as experience with cloud IT deployments, both of which make him an ideal executive to support customers,” he added.

Set up in 2008 by Jay Chaudhry, Zscaler provides cloud security to companies that want to migrate their operations to the cloud. It has clients from over 185 countries. Most of its customers are corporate data centres, to whom it provides protection from cyberattacks and data loss.

It expanded to the Japan market in 2018 by setting up a Tokyo office, in addition to its existing offices in Singapore, Australia and India.

The company owns the flagship services Zscaler Internet Access, which is an internet gateway delivered from the cloud, as well as Zscaler Private Access, which helps organisations provide its employees secure access to its internal applications on a public cloud.

“Zscaler delivers a winning formula for the region with leading cloud-based security solutions, a strong channel structure and proven expertise in helping businesses in Asia Pacific boost their cyber security,” Banerjee said.
