Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited, the 'Ship Builder to the Nation', is one of India’s leading Defence public sector undertaking shipyard under the Ministry of Defence. They construct warships and submarines with facilities situated at Mumbai and Nhava and have the capability to build warships, submarines, merchant ships up to 40,000 DWT since 1979.

Rakesh Anand, speaking from an experience of 40 years in the Naval Operations, Warship, and Submarine construction domains, explains how the last 5 months of the pandemic have reiterated the importance of designing and building these complex structures for resilience and reliability.

The sudden stoppage due to the pandemic led to drastic changes in the way or working, especially for manufacturing organizations like Maruti Suzuki. Rajesh Uppal sheds light on the work that went into enabling 80% of the workforce (from 10% earlier) to work from home within a week, and then gradually bring it back to normal while staying on track with the targets.
