Chennai headquartered Zoho is India’s largest software as a service (SaaS) company by revenue. It has seen explosive growth, about ten times in the last five years, and aims to grow by another five times over the next five years.

Sridhar Vembu, founder and CEO of Zoho, spoke to TechCircle about the company’s plans for the future and its growth philosophy.

Founded by Vembu in 1996 as AdventNet, Zoho began to ship SaaS products in the mid-2000s. It has over a million paid customers now with close to half of the revenue coming from the US market. Zoho has managed to grow fast and remain profitable without any external funding.

According to Vembu, the company has matured over the past one and half decade and that has helped the company design better products.

An IIT Madras alumnus, Vembu has a doctorate in electrical engineering from Princeton and started his career at Qualcomm in 1994.
