Outlook 2021: Two key themes of Indian tech businesses in 2021

To Kae Capital's surprise, 2020 turned out to be a good year in terms of the early-stage venture capital firm's portfolio performance. 

On an average, a Kae Capital portfolio company saw a 50% rise in business from pre-Covid levels, Gaurav Chaturvedi, a partner at the firm, told TechCircle. “They are now burning less, and growing more... We expect this to continue into 2021, very strongly."

Kae Capital is a Mumbai based venture capital firm. 

While software-as-a-service (SaaS), digital health, and edtech were areas that performed best in the year that was, areas such as fintech took a while to recover lost business and arrive at 2021, due an inflection point, he added.

In the video, he speaks about there being a huge pent up demand in capital deployment that will now come to the fore. He also says he expects a lot more action in early stage fundraises, with more Series A and B rounds in 2021, as compared to 2020.

He also speaks about two main themes that would colour 2021’s business ecosystem in India -- small and midsize business (SMB) digitization, and consumerization of enterprises.
