Tesla CEO and the world’s richest man Elon Musk has already made an offer to buy Twitter Inc on April 14 at $43 billion and is again back with a bang. Speaking at the TED conference in Vancouver, Musk informed the audience that if his bid to acquire Twitter was accepted, he would consider “modifying the platform’s approach to controversial and problematic content, including tweets by crypto scam bots.”

“A top priority I would have is, eliminating the spam and scam bots and the bot armies that are on Twitter,” Musk told TED CEO Chris Anderson in the conversation.

Musk explained that scam bots are extremely rampant on the microblogging site, and he used an interesting analogy to drive his point home.

“Scam bots make the product much worse. If I had a Dogecoin for every crypto scam I saw, we’d have 100 billion Dogecoin,” said the billionaire.

With a reported net worth of more than $300 billion, Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk said he could “technically afford” to purchase Twitter outright and also had plans to change the user experience of the major social media platform.

In other words, Musk said he would change the way the platform handles controversial content by not promoting certain tweets and adding the ability to edit tweets as well as show that edit history.

He added that under his prospective leadership, Twitter should be “reluctant to delete things” and permanently ban accounts. Musk also clarified that he would “encourage free speech according to respective countries’ laws.”

At the TED Talk Musk also revealed that Tesla is bullish on artificial intelligence (AI) that can be an important technology to safely drive all its electric cars available within the next year.

He described his company will create humanoid robots over the next two years which could be used for domestic functions in homes and meet labour shortages.

“We should be optimistic about the future and we should fight for that future,” Musk concluded at the interview.

The TED 2022 conference has been back in-person at Vancouver’s Convention Centre after a span of nearly three years since 2019, owing to the global pandemic, when most global events were either cancelled or turned ‘virtual’ due to health reasons. The event featured more than 100 speakers who delivered short speeches about forward-thinking concepts, technologies and design.
