Honeywell has set up a Global Solutions Command and Control Centre (GSCCC) in Gurugram to provide 24x7 remote support to its customers in the oil and gas industry. The US-based company claimed that this is their first such centre in the world and also in this industry. The centre will initially provide support to 200 refinery units of over 50 companies, which can be expanded to serve 1,000 units by 2028, the company added.

The centre is connected to the units and data on operations is shared on a non-stop basis through the cloud. The centre uses data analytics and machine learning (ML) models to generate insights from key performance indicators. The centre will also provide real-time alerts in case of a fault, allowing companies to take corrective measures before the problem escalates.

Experts at Honeywell can “watch and evaluate” the performance of every connected unit in the refinery on a large TV screen installed at the centre.

“Honeywell’s Global Solutions Command and Control Centre is a new state-of-the-art centre that uses the best remote monitoring infrastructure and uses advanced AI/ML capabilities to provide customers with valuable advice to optimise assets and enhance operations,” Ashish Gaikwad, vice president, and general manager, Honeywell UOP India and Honeywell Process Solutions India said in a statement.

Honeywell claimed that the centre would help refinery companies identify gaps, achieve operation optimisation, increase productivity and realise their sustainability goals. It will also allow refinery companies to benchmark the performance of their operating units.

“The centre demonstrates Honeywell’s long-standing commitment to India and its importance as a strategic hub for the right balance between technology, technical skills, specialisation, and costs,” Rajesh Rege, president of Honeywell India, said in a statement.

After Covid-19, companies across sectors are turning to AI-enabled real-time monitoring solutions to improve operational efficiency and productivity. Setting up a remote control centre allows solution providers such as Honeywell to cater to multiple companies from the same industry more effectively.
