French multinational company Schneider Electric has promoted Deepak Sharma as managing director and chief executive officer of its India subsidiary Schneider Electric India Private Limited (SEIPL) effective May 1, 2023.  Sharma who has also been appointed as zonal president of Greater India will take over from Anil Chaudhry, who spent over 10 years in these roles and will be relocating to France to take over a new Global leadership role within Schneider Electric Group, the company which is in the digital automation and energy management space.  

Sharma has 30 years of experience with 24 years at Schneider Electric handling diverse roles based out of India, France, China, and the USA across Energy Management & Industrial Automation businesses.  

In his previous role, Sharma led the integration of L&T Electrical and Automation Business with Schneider Electric, as SVP, Mergers & Acquisition. This integration was a key enabler in making India as one of the four global hubs of Schneider Electric with 34,500 employees and 30+ factories, the company said in a press release.

Commenting on his new role, Sharma said that he is looking forward to “scaling up the company’s capabilities” and working toward “making India more digital and sustainable”.  

He added, “With India taking decisive steps towards becoming climate positive, I foresee enhanced collaboration and partnerships with the Governments, Public and Private enterprises in their sustainability and digitization journeys.” 

Sharma has obtained his graduate, postgraduate degrees in management and Electrical Engineering and completed executive education programs of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM)-Ahmedabad, INSEAD France and UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School, USA.
