The week (April 20-26, 2024) was buzzing with several CXO movements in the tech industry with some of the major appointments in key business positions. IT services firms like HCLTech and SAP Labs made important new appointments, while non-tech firms like Tata Steel and Godrej & Boyce appointed technology executives to lead their digital affairs. Dinesh Kumar Shrimali joins Tata Steel as CISO and DPO

Dinesh Kumar Shrimali has joined Indian steel-making giant Tata Steel Ltd as its Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) and Data Protection Officer (DPO). With over 22 years of experience in global leadership roles in cybersecurity, Shrimali brings a wealth of expertise to his new position, having previously served as group CISO for Welspun Group, and global head of cyber security at UPL Ltd. Before that he served as senior manager Information Security at Tata Motors, and also as a security analyst at Holcim Services (South Asia) Ltd. A master of Engineering in Electronics & Telecommunications from Jadavpur University, Shrimali will be overseeing and managing Tata Steel’s information security strategies and policies. (Read more)

PayPal appoints Shaun Khalfan as CISO

Digital payments company PayPal has appointed Shaun Khalfan as senior vice president and chief information security officer (CISO). Khalfan has over 20 years of experience in information security and risk management. He has worked with the US Department of Defense as the CISO for the Department of Homeland Security and at Freddie Mac, responsible for cybersecurity risk reduction, security architecture, and end-user experience. In his last role, he was CISO at Discover Financial Services. Khalfan is an alumna of the University of Maryland and the George Washington University School of Business. (Read more)

Godrej & Boyce has appointed Vijay Balakrishnan as its new Chief Digital and Information Officer. Having served as Chief Data Officer at United Phosphorus, Michelin, and GE Transportation, Balakrishnan brings a wealth of experience to his new role. He aims to spearhead digital innovation by prioritizing customer needs and collaborating closely with business units. With a strategic focus on enhancing digital experiences and embracing emerging technologies like AR/VR, Balakrishnan is set to lead Godrej & Boyce into a new era of digital excellence, he said.

Pine Labs' Setu appoints former SAP India exec as its CEO

Former executive at SAP India Anand Raisinghani has been appointed the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Pine Labs-owned API infrastructure company Setu. This move comes as Setu aims to bolster its position in consent-based structured data sharing via the account aggregation model. With over two decades of experience in building high-performance teams, Raisinghani brings a wealth of expertise to his new role. Previously serving as the VP and Head of Professional Services for BFSI, Telecom, and Media sectors at SAP India, Raisinghani has also held key positions at global technology firms such as Equifax, IBM, and Wipro. At Setu, Raisinghani will work closely with Setu's co-founder Nikhil Kumar, Raisinghani aims to further advance India's API economy, leveraging his experience with initiatives like India Stack on Aadhaar and UPI. HCLTech appoints Lee Fang Chew as Independent Director

Indian IT services and consulting company HCLTech, a leading global technology company, today announced the appointment of Lee Fang Chew as an Independent Director of the company with effect from April 25, 2024. Chew brings in over three decades of rich experience in the global technology industry and has a deep understanding and know-how in analysing changes and evolution in technology, particularly in the computing industry. She worked with Intel Corporation from 1986 to 2016 and held several leadership positions. She was also associated with Applied Materials as Vice President of StrategicAlliances from 2017 to 2020 and contributed to shaping the value proposition of the company’s technology to build long-term strategic partnerships.
