Tata Elxsi, a midcap technology services company, on Thursday, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the GSM Association (GSMA) under the GSMA Fusion initiative to fast-track enterprise API adoption and help mobile operators unlock new revenue streams through network monetisation.

The collaboration includes a Global Statement of Requirements aimed at helping telecom operators monetise their networks through standardised APIs, enabling enterprise-ready digital services across key industries such as automotive, industrial, healthcare, and entertainment.
In the initial phase, Tata Elxsi and GSMA will focus on supporting enterprise demand in automotive and drone sectors for new digital services and applications that leverage standardised Quality on Demand (QoD) and other emerging network APIs.

These APIs, standardised under GSMA’s Open Gateway framework and CAMARA open-source project, allow developers and enterprises to integrate network capabilities like QoD, location verification, and security directly into applications — paving the way for programmable network services tailored to industry needs.

Tata Elxsi’s involvement aligns with its AI First Telco strategy, which seeks to help operators move beyond traditional connectivity and tap into high-value enterprise opportunities. The partnership with GSMA will strengthen its role as a key enabler in API-driven ecosystems.
According to industry forecasts, the global network API market is projected to grow from $1.96 billion in 2025 to $6.13 billion by 2030, propelled by 5G deployment and enterprise digital transformation.

“This collaborative effort is a strategic offering to help telcos transform their value proposition for the future,” said Rajagopalan Rajappa, Chief Technology Officer – Communication Technologies & Platforms, Tata Elxsi. “By enabling operators to monetize their networks through standardised APIs, we help them unlock enterprise revenue with best-in-class integration, platform services and managed offerings.”

Through the partnership, GSMA will support mobile operators in delivering scalable, programmable network services that address regional and industry-specific enterprise needs. Tata Elxsi will develop demand-driven use cases leveraging network APIs across multiple verticals.
In the automotive sector, for instance, the collaboration will enable use cases such as enhanced driver and cabin monitoring, rear-seat entertainment powered by QoD APIs, and KYC verification for passengers and drivers in shared mobility or fleet operations — all powered through Tata Elxsi’s Connected Digital Platform & Solutions.
