Konkan Railway taps Blue Cloud for 5G rollout, digital upgrades across Key stations

Blue Cloud Softech Solutions Ltd has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd (KRCL) to deploy 5G network technology and a suite of value-added digital services across three stations—Madgaon, Ratnagiri and Udupi—marking a significant push to modernise connectivity along the coastal rail corridor.
The collaboration aims to boost internet speeds, improve passenger experience and strengthen digital infrastructure on one of India’s most geographically challenging railway routes. The initiative comes at a time when Indian Railways is accelerating station upgrades and exploring new technology models to improve service delivery.
As part of a phased proof-of-concept (PoC), Blue Cloud will roll out its 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) solutions supported by high-capacity backhaul at the selected stations. The company will also pilot immersive in-station and in-train entertainment services designed to offer passengers real-time information, seamless connectivity and high-quality infotainment.

According to the company, the PoC will allow KRCL and Blue Cloud to evaluate operational feasibility, network robustness and passenger engagement across varying terrain conditions. Insights gathered from the pilot will be used to refine service delivery models and shape a scalable blueprint for future digital deployments across the Konkan Railway network.
Following a successful evaluation, both entities plan to expand and commercialise the services across additional KRCL locations through a revenue-sharing model. The partnership is expected to support KRCL’s broader strategy of adopting next-generation technologies to enhance operational efficiency and passenger comfort.
“This partnership marks an exciting milestone in our journey to bring transformative digital solutions to India’s railway ecosystem,” said Tejesh Kodali, Group Chairman, Blue Cloud Softech Solutions Ltd. “By joining hands with KRCL, we are not only enhancing the passenger experience through cutting-edge connectivity and entertainment but also setting new standards for innovation in transportation.”

Santosh Kumar Jha, Chairman and Managing Director, KRCL, said the agreement aligns with the organisation’s commitment to delivering world-class services. “Integrating advanced 5G connectivity and digital entertainment solutions at key stations is a significant step toward modernising the Konkan Railway corridor. This collaboration will enhance the travel experience and set a benchmark for technological advancement in the rail sector,” he said.
Separately, Blue Cloud Softech announced its empanelment as a 5G Fixed Wireless Access partner for Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) in the Karnataka Telecom Circle, a move the company said will accelerate the expansion of high-speed 5G internet services in the region.
