Delhivery taps NVIDIA AI to address India’s complex mapping and logistics gaps

Delhivery has announced plans to develop an AI-based digital mapping system tailored to India’s address formats and geography, in collaboration with NVIDIA. The announcement was made at the India AI Summit and focuses on building enterprise-grade location intelligence infrastructure.

The logistics company will use NVIDIA’s accelerated computing platform, CV-CUDA libraries, and Nemotron open models to process and analyze large volumes of data. Delhivery has accumulated petabytes of shipment and location data over several years. The company plans to use this dataset to train and refine mapping models designed for Indian conditions.

India’s addressing system presents challenges for conventional mapping tools. Many addresses are written without standardized formats and often depend on nearby landmarks, local language variations, and informal descriptions. This creates gaps in global mapping systems that are built around structured coordinates and uniform address formats.

Delhivery is evaluating capabilities such as address disambiguation to separate similar-sounding locations, contextual inference to interpret unstructured address details, and predictive sequencing to improve delivery routes in densely populated areas. These tools are aimed at improving last-mile logistics efficiency, particularly in urban and semi-urban markets.

“Bharat needs mapping solutions that operate at scale and can understand the pulse of its streets. Standard global mapping tools often struggle with nuances of Indian addresses. By combining Delhivery’s dataset of billions of shipments with NVIDIA’s accelerated computing, we are exploring a location intelligence layer to power India’s digital growth,” said Kapil Bharati, Co-founder & Chief Technology Officer, Delhivery.

Vishal Dhupar, managing director, Asia South, NVIDIA.  “Delhivery’s work demonstrates how NVIDIA AI infrastructure and open AI models like NVIDIA Nemotron can help address large-scale geospatial challenges to help India’s technology leaders provide a new wave of AI-powered applications and services.”
