AWS, SHI India collaborate to support AI infrastructure under IndiaAI Mission
Amazon Web Services has partnered with SHI India to support the development of indigenous AI models under the IndiaAI Mission. The collaboration aims to provide AI infrastructure and tools to government bodies, startups, enterprises, academic institutions, and research organizations.
SHI India, an empaneled partner in the mission, will offer AWS AI services, including Amazon SageMaker. These services allow organizations to train and customize large language models without building complex infrastructure. The setup is intended to lower entry barriers for AI development across sectors.
AWS is also deploying generative AI capabilities through Amazon Bedrock, along with SageMaker. The platform automates key processes in GPU-based model training, such as cluster setup, recovery from node failures, and continuous training operations. This reduces the need for manual intervention and supports large-scale model development.
Sandeep Dutta, President, AWS India and South Asia, said, “Our collaboration with SHI India is designed to ensure that organizations across the country have both the infrastructure and the capability to turn AI from experimentation into real-world impact. This is how India will build solutions that serve citizens and set global standards."
Uttam Majumdar, SVP, SHI India, said, "By combining AWS's AI services with our deep understanding of Indian enterprise needs and regulatory requirements, we're enabling organizations to adopt AI with confidence. Our focus is on making enterprise-grade AI accessible, practical, and impactful for Indian organizations across multiple sectors."
