TCS wins multi-million AI-led network transformation deal from ABB

Indian IT services major Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) on Monday secured a multi-million, multi-year contract from Swiss industrial technology company ABB to modernise and manage the company's global network operations, expanding a partnership that has spanned more than two decades.
Under the agreement, TCS will move beyond infrastructure and application management to deliver end-to-end global network operations through a network-as-a-service (NaaS) model. The engagement will support ABB's enterprise-wide Future Network Model programme, which aims to standardise and centrally manage the company's global digital network infrastructure.
The deal comes as large global enterprises increasingly modernise network infrastructure to support artificial intelligence, cloud computing, cybersecurity and distributed operations, creating new growth opportunities for IT services providers beyond traditional application development and maintenance.

As part of the engagement, TCS will design, integrate and operate ABB's global network ecosystem using AI-driven automation and a centralised operating model. The company will also coordinate ABB's multi-vendor network environment to deliver standardised operations across its global footprint.
The programme is designed to replace fragmented network environments with a unified architecture that integrates service integration and management (SIAM), a global network operations centre, advanced cybersecurity capabilities, and modernised local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN) and software-defined WAN (SD-WAN) infrastructure.
TCS said it will also implement end-to-end monitoring and orchestration capabilities to improve network performance, operational efficiency and service delivery while strengthening security and compliance.

"The Future Network Model represents an important milestone in reinforcing the digital foundation of ABB's global operations," said Alec Joannou, Group Chief Information Officer at ABB. "As our business evolves, it is critical to have an ecosystem that is resilient, secure and aligned with long-term transformation goals."
For TCS, the deal further strengthens its manufacturing and industrial technology portfolio, where enterprises are increasingly investing in AI-enabled infrastructure and intelligent operations. The company has been focusing on embedding AI across enterprise infrastructure services as clients seek greater automation, resilience and operational visibility.
"For over two decades, TCS has had the privilege of supporting ABB's transformation journey, and the Future Network Model marks the next chapter in this partnership," said Anupam Singhal, President, Manufacturing, TCS.

He said the programme would combine AI-enabled network operations with secure digital infrastructure to build systems capable of continuously sensing, adapting and optimising network performance while improving reliability, security and user experience.
The latest engagement builds on a long-standing relationship between the two companies. Over the past 20 years, TCS has supported ABB in several large-scale technology transformation initiatives, including consolidating multiple enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems onto a unified SAP platform and accelerating the company's cloud transformation programmes.
The announcement comes shortly after TCS reported strong momentum in large enterprise deals in the first quarter of FY27, reflecting sustained demand for AI-led digital transformation, cloud modernisation and infrastructure services from global enterprises despite a cautious macroeconomic environment.
