HDFC Bank, India's largest private-sector lender, has modernised its wealth management technology by deploying Infosys Finacle's wealth management platform. It replaced legacy systems with an API-driven architecture as it focuses on digital wealth services to meet rising demand from affluent and high-net-worth customers.

The implementation brings the bank's domestic and offshore wealth operations onto a single platform, enabling automated workflows, broader investment product coverage, real-time portfolio management, and reduced reliance on manual processes.

The move comes as Indian banks and wealth managers accelerate investments in digital platforms to cater to a rapidly expanding affluent customer base, where personalised advisory, faster execution and integrated investment products are becoming key differentiators.

The new platform supports 12 asset classes, including mutual funds, fixed income securities, private equity, alternative investment funds, insurance and structured products. It also introduces digitised margin lending capabilities with automated collateral checks and risk controls, alongside real-time portfolio monitoring and advisory tools for relationship managers.

More than 350 application programming interfaces (APIs) have been integrated into the platform, enabling seamless connectivity across banking systems, real-time settlements, automated corporate actions and faster rollout of new investment products.

Rakesh K. Singh, Group Head – Private Banking, International Banking, Financial Institutions and Banking-as-a-Service at HDFC Bank, said the transformation was aimed at creating a unified digital-first wealth platform capable of supporting both domestic and international businesses while improving operational efficiency.

"Our vision was to modernize wealth management with a unified, digital-first platform that delivers agility, efficiency, and innovation," Singh said. "This transformation positions us to adapt swiftly to regulatory changes, scale profitably and deliver differentiated value to clients."

Sajit Vijayakumar, Chief Executive Officer of Infosys Finacle, said India's wealth management industry is undergoing rapid digital transformation as financial institutions look to improve client engagement and operational agility.

The implementation reflects a broader trend across India's banking sector, where institutions are replacing fragmented legacy systems with cloud-ready, API-first platforms that support artificial intelligence, automation and data-driven advisory services. Wealth management has emerged as one of the fastest-growing segments for technology investments as banks seek to capture a larger share of affluent customers' financial assets through integrated digital experiences.

Banks including ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank and IndusInd Bank have also been expanding digital wealth capabilities, introducing AI-powered advisory tools, unified investment platforms and personalised portfolio services as competition intensifies in India's fast-growing wealth management market.

For Infosys Finacle, the deployment adds another marquee customer to its global banking portfolio. The EdgeVerve-owned platform is used by financial institutions in more than 100 countries across core banking, payments, lending, treasury and wealth management, as banks increasingly modernise core technology to support AI-led innovation and digital-first customer engagement.
