Genesys names former TechM veteran Dhiman Basu Ray as CTO

Geospatial technology company Genesys International Corporation has appointed Dhiman Basu Ray as chief technology officer, as the company seeks to expand from digital mapping and digital twins into AI-powered spatial intelligence.
Basu Ray joins Genesys from Tech Mahindra, where he served as Global Chief Technology Officer–Digital Engineering. He brings around 26 years of experience across AI and machine learning, robotics, product and platform engineering, cloud and data platforms, software-defined vehicles, cybersecurity and digital transformation.
At Genesys, Basu Ray will lead the company’s technology strategy as it builds an AI-native platform around its geospatial data, surveying and 3D digital twin capabilities.

The appointment comes as the company looks to position spatial intelligence as a technology layer for applications involving governments, enterprises and machines. Genesys said it plans to combine high-precision mapping, 3D digital twins, AI and continuously updated spatial data to support use cases across urban governance, infrastructure, utilities, mobility and autonomous systems.
“Genesys is moving from mapping the world to making the physical world computable,” said Sajid Malik, chairman and managing director, Genesys International. He said Basu Ray’s experience in AI, robotics and digital engineering would be important as the company builds the technology architecture to turn geospatial data into continuously updated spatial intelligence.
Basu Ray said the next opportunity for Genesys lies in combining AI, digital engineering and platform thinking to build a scalable spatial intelligence layer.

The company’s strategy is also aligned with the emergence of Physical AI, where AI systems perceive and interact with physical environments. Unlike conventional AI applications that primarily work with digital information, such systems require accurate, three-dimensional and machine-readable representations of the physical world.
Genesys said its existing capabilities in terrestrial and aerial surveying, high-definition mapping, 3D geospatial content and city-scale digital twins provide the foundation for this shift. The company plans to develop an architecture that can continuously ingest, process, validate and interpret spatial data.
