Online gifting site Badhai.in, which enables users to buy vouchers that can be redeemed at various brand stores, has launched an all-new group gifting feature. Now a group of people can contribute towards a single voucher and use it for gifting on special occasions. The company has tied up with more than 500 leading stores across several categories like electronics, white goods, apparels, jewellery, beauty, lifestyle products, travel and books. The vouchers are delivered electronically to recipients – over their phones or via e-mail. Also, people have the choice to redeem the vouchers either offline or online.
Badhai has also enabled Facebook integration to enhance the scope of social gifting. The site has made it possible for users to track special occasions like birthdays and anniversaries of their Facebook connections and send gifts individually or in a group comprising other Facebook friends.
Ajay Pandey, CEO and founder of Badhai.in, said, "The company solves the 'choice' problem by giving recipients complete control over where to use the vouchers. At the same time, it makes it convenient to pool money and gift jointly even when friends are in different geographical locations." Pandey is an IIT-Kanpur alumnus and earlier worked as AVP & head of emerging technologies at Tricom India Ltd.
Run by eInsignia Infosoft Pvt Ltd, Badhai.in was founded earlier this year and enters a market which is still at a nascent stage in India. Online or social gifting is still a new concept in the country, but there are a few players like Wishberry.in, Shareurjoy, Lamhe and Indiagiftregistry.com, which primarily operate in the segment of wedding or special occasion gifting.
