Content startup WYN Studio has secured Rs 50 lakh (about $66,778 at current exchange rates) in a seed funding round from India Angel Fund.
The investment round was led by Sanjeev Sinha, CEO, India Japan partnership fund; Pranay Anthwal, media and entertainment industry leader; Narendra Firodia, founder, Sohamm Unicorp; and Rahul Narvekar, co-founder, India Angel Network, according to a statement.
The Gurugram headquartered startup plans to deploy the funds to strengthen its team and also create more original content.
"While we were cash positive from day one and extremely frugal with our spending, we have realised that this phase has been a boom for content especially audio," Souniya Khurana, co-founder, WYN Studios, said.
What’s Your Narrative (WYN) was established by Khurana and Bijay Gautam last year. The startup has created video content for brands such as HP and also produced podcasts for individuals and brands.
It claims to have seen an uptick in podcasting requests by brands and individuals to help them create and monetise their content.
"While we are still in the process of setting up a formal team, I was very impressed with the traction WYN has achieved so far, as also their frugal spends and sharp revenue focusRahul Narvekar, co-founder, IAF, said.
In February, Mumbai-based Mebigo Labs, which owns vernacular audio platform Kuku FM, raised $5.5 million in a Series A round led by venture capital firm Vertex Ventures, an arm of Singapore headquartered Temasek Holdings.
