Gaming unicorn Mobile Premier League (MPL)  has announced a multi-game loss protection plan for its festive season tournaments, which will allow participants to claim a refund of up to 100% of net loss after playing at least 10 games.

The plan will be free and available to all players for the upcoming tournaments under MPL’s ‘Diwali Lakhpati Party’ gaming festival which will give away Rs 40 crore in prize money and is expected to attract more than six million gamers.

The gaming festival will start September 30 and last till October 31. The refund policy will only be valid for losses incurred on select games such as Poker, Ludo, Fantasy, Carrom, and Block Puzzle played during this one-month period.

“We feel the loss protection policy is a great initiative that can foster safe and risk-free gameplay and is aligned with our player- first approach,” said Namratha Swamy, Country Head, India, MPL.

According to MPL, players can claim losses after playing 10 games even if they have lost a single game.

Though players won’t have to pay any fees to take advantage of the protection  plan, they will have to submit  their claims to get the refund. They will also have to provide KYC details and the lost amount will be refunded to their MPL wallet.

MPL said that the losses incurred by players and claimed under the protection plan will absorbed by the gaming platform.

Real money gaming platforms have received  a lot of flak recently from various state governments, which feel that these platforms are promoting  gambling and leading  to gaming addiction among youngsters. This was also fuelled by a few cases of suicide last year, which were allegedly related to financial losses incurred on real money gaming platforms.

Though high courts in several  states including Tamil Nadu and Kerala have reversed bans on real money gaming platforms, early this week Tamil Nadu government passed an ordinance to ban online gambling games.
