The week (May 20-26th) saw some important CXO movements in India’s tech industry. The Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) announced its newly elected chairperson this week. We also saw semiconductor firm Vedanta continuing its hiring momentum as it ropes in another senior executive to lead its chip business, while non-tech firms like Toyota Financial Services India, Allen Digital and Capital India Finance have also hired in senior technology roles. Vedanta appoints Mike Young as senior VP to lead its semiconductor business
Vedanta-Foxconn Semiconductors Limited (VFSL) has appointed Mike Young as its senior vice president, project management office and manufacturing operations on Thursday. Young is an industry veteran with nearly three-and-a-half decades of experience and has earlier worked with X-FAB UK, STMicroelectronics, Siemens, Atmel, and Plessey Semiconductors. In his previous role he served as CEO of Systems on Silicon Manufacturing Company (SSMC), Singapore. At Vedanta, he will oversee the execution of manufacturing and operational processes as the company gears up to set up its first semiconductor fab in India. (Read more)

Dream11 founder Harsh Jain elected IAMAI chairperson
The Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) on Thursday announced that based on the governing council election, Harsh Jain - Co-founder, and CEO of Dream Sports — has been elected the Chairman of the association. Jain replaces Sanjay Gupta, Vice-President and Country Manager, Google India. Jain, whose tenure is for two years, completed his engineering from the University of Pennsylvania and his MBA from Columbia Business School. (Read more)

Harish Sharma becomes chief information and digital officer at TFS India
Harish Sharma has assumed the role of chief information and digital officer at Toyota Financial Services (TFS) India. Prior to this new position, he served as the chief information officer (CIO) and chief human resource officer (CHRO) within the same organisation. In his new role, Sharma will lead the overall technology and digital strategies of the company, aligned to its business growth. Sharma spent over a decade in the company and was part of the initial team of TFS India, which was then a greenfield project and helped build capabilities and the team from scratch. (Read more)

Piyush Mistry elevated to Group Head-IT at Capital India Finance
Piyush Mistry has been promoted to Group Head of Information Technology at Capital India Finance Ltd. Before this, he was Head of IT at the same company. Earlier, he was associated with Dvara SmartGold, JM Financial, National Bank of Fujairah, GlobeOp Financial Services, NexVisionIX, Embee Software, Atcom Technologies and Integrated Solutions. After graduating in computer science, Mistry has done his masters from the Indian Institute of Management Nagpur and an MBA from ITM University, Raipur.

Former Meta exec Abha Maheshwari joins Allen Digital as CEO
Abha Maheshwari, a former executive of Meta, has joined Allen Digital as chief executive officer. Allen Digital is the digital arm of Allen Career Institute, a coaching institution preparing students for entrance exams for engineering and medical sciences. With over two decades of experience in technology leadership, Maheshwari will help build Allen’s digital and technology teams in Bengaluru creating digital-first products for enhancing delivery of outcome-based learning to students.
