Adobe has announced new updates for Firefly-powered features in Photoshop (beta). The latest addition is called Generative Expand, and it comes with added support for text prompts in over 100 languages.

With Generative Expand, users can effortlessly extend the boundaries of an image with a simple click-and-drag action using Photoshop’s Crop tool. The blank canvas created through this process is then intelligently filled in by Adobe’s AI engine, seamlessly blending the generated content with the original image.

According to the company, this builds upon the existing Generative Fill feature in Photoshop, which was introduced in beta two months ago and has already been leveraged to create 900 million AI-generated images.

Generative Expand offers a more streamlined workflow, specifically designed to expand images faster and with greater intuitiveness.

Adobe has also revealed that Photoshop's AI features will now support text prompts in over 100 languages. This means users from different corners of the world can now express their creative ideas using text prompts in their native languages.

The backbone of these new capabilities is Adobe's Firefly AI engine, which has been trained on a diverse dataset to deliver commercially viable results. Drawing from Adobe's extensive experience in developing AI across various products like Creative Cloud, Document Cloud, and Experience Cloud, Firefly is set to elevate the Photoshop experience for users.

With the incorporation of new generative features, Photoshop aims to streamline the creative process by automating repetitive tasks. By intelligently expanding images and filling in blank spaces with relevant visual content, users can now brainstorm and experiment more efficiently than ever before.

On March 21, Adobe introduced the beta release of its latest artificial intelligence model called Firefly. This AI model is designed to generate both images and text.

In the following months, Adobe revealed a new platform for Firefly. The platform is intended to assist organisations in meeting the increasing need for content creation in their workplaces. At the Adobe Summit event in 2023, they officially presented Adobe Firefly for enterprise use. The main goal is to enable every employee within a company to quickly generate images or written content based on text descriptions. These generated materials can then be utilised in various ways, such as for marketing campaigns, social media promotions, corporate presentations, and more.
