We’re embedding AI into every layer of analytics: adesso India MD

Once known primarily for its automobile industry, Chennai is fast transforming into one of the country’s most dynamic technology and innovation hubs. Over the past few years, the city has seen a surge in Global Capability Centres (GCCs), with global firms such as, IBM, Standard Chartered, PayPal, and Freshworks expanding their engineering bases here. Now, European technology majors Exasol and adesso are adding to that momentum with the launch of the Exasol Tech Hub in Chennai.
In an interaction with TechCircle, Pramod Muralidharan, Managing Director, adesso India, said that the new centre will serve as a strategic engine for Exasol’s global vision of democratising AI-powered analytics. It will integrate artificial intelligence throughout the analytics lifecycle — from intelligent workload optimisation and AI-assisted data preparation to automated tuning and insight generation — enabling enterprises to make faster, data-driven decisions at scale.
“The Exasol Tech Hub in Chennai will be the engine that powers our global ambition to deliver AI-ready analytics at scale,” Muralidharan said. “We’re embedding AI into every layer of analytics, helping enterprises accelerate decision-making and confidently scale their data initiatives.”
Harnessing India’s AI talent for global innovation

According to NASSCOM, India’s GCC landscape is expanding rapidly — with more than 1,600 global capability centres employing over 1.7 million professionals, and AI/analytics roles forming one of the fastest-growing segments. Chennai, with its strong engineering education ecosystem and maturing IT infrastructure, is emerging as a preferred destination for AI and R&D-heavy operations.
adesso and Exasol plan to leverage this deep local talent base to enhance the Exasol Analytics Engine. Teams in Chennai will focus on developing AI-native features like vector and semantic search for retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), improved SQL usability, and an evolved UDF framework tailored for modern, unstructured data and assistive analytics.
“By combining Exasol’s cutting-edge analytics technology with India’s engineering expertise, we aim to deliver faster product iterations and stronger performance,” Muralidharan explained. “It’s a powerful example of how European innovation and Indian talent can together shape the future of enterprise analytics.”
Building for scale and sustainability

The hub will be managed through adesso’s Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Chennai, which oversees HR, infrastructure, and operations to ensure scalability and quality delivery. This model allows Exasol to focus on core R&D and innovation, while adesso provides the operational backbone.
Chennai’s innovation-friendly ecosystem, supported by a growing base of AI startups, research institutions, and large enterprises, further strengthens this vision. “The city offers a fertile environment for collaboration and continuous learning,” says Muralidharan. “It aligns perfectly with our mission to drive AI-centred global innovation from India.”
As more global companies shift R&D and AI product development to India, collaborations like Exasol–adesso underscore the country’s evolving role as a hub for engineering excellence. Over time, the partnership aims to set new benchmarks in AI-powered analytics, create high-value engineering jobs, and reinforce India’s position in the global technology value chain.

“This is not just about a development centre,” Muralidharan says. “It’s about creating a sustainable ecosystem for innovation that delivers lasting value — for customers, for industry, and for India’s growing digital economy.”
