Indian information technology (IT) firm HCL Technologies has rolled out a smart insurance platform and a document management system for US-based NLC Insurance Companies.

While the smart insurance platform is called Guidewire InsurancePlatform, the document management system is called SmartComm.

According to NLC, the new insurance processing core system suite will help with real-time access and ease of doing business for agents and policyholders.

It further said that the new document management system has been deployed for NLC’s Massachusetts agents and policyholders and will be soon launched in Connecticut and Rhode Island later this year.
"The systems will allow agents faster access to information, including integrated and automated underwriting rules and reports, to provide a more efficient work environment for them as well as better service for their customers," Rahul Singh, president of HCL's financial services division, said.

"By leveraging HCL-developed Guidewire accelerators and other automated frameworks and levers, NLC is able to deliver a timely product, streamlined workflow, and optimal service to their agents and customers," he added.

TechCircle had reported earlier this month that HCL has launched a new software business unit with the close of the acquisition of select IBM software products that it had announced last year in December.

Last month, in an interview with TechCircle, Sanjay Gupta, executive vice-president and programme director of HCL's initiative called New Vistas, said that the company was using cloud to maintain a stable workforce.

The homegrown IT services company also had partnered Boston-based software firm Parametric Technology Corporation last month to create an Internet of Things (loT) solution called Realtime Manufacturing Insights (RMI).

The companies had said in a joint statement that RMI is an enabler for Industry 4.0 manufacturing organisations that need near real-time visibility into the availability, performance, and quality of any given tool, piece of equipment, or machine.
