Reliance Jio hikes prepaid tariffs up to 21% after Airtel, Vodafone Idea

Telecom operator Reliance Jio has increased its prepaid tariffs up to 21% from December 1, following similar moves by rivals Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea last week. 

Jio’s Rs 75 recharge plan, which offers 3GB data for 28 days, alongside unlimited voice calls and 50 SMS messages has now been hiked to Rs 91. 

As per new tariff, the 84-day plan starting at Rs 329 will now cost Rs 395 with 6GB data in total, while the Rs 555 plan will now cost Rs 666. However, the plan will continue to offer 1.5GB of data per day for customers.

The Rs 599 plan which has a validity of 84 days as well will cost Rs 719 for 2GB daily data. However, the plan continues with unlimited voice and 100 SMS per day.  

The Rs 1,299 prepaid recharge plan will now cost Rs 1,559, which includes a total of 24GB of data, unlimited voice calls and 3,600 SMS. 

The Rs 2,399 Jio pack will be available for Rs 2,879 and will offer 2GB of daily data, unlimited voice and 100 SMS per day.

The company has also raised prices of the data add-on plans. The Rs 51 data plan will soon cost Rs 61, whereas the Rs 101 pack will be priced at Rs 121. Besides, the Rs 251 data add-on pack will now allow users 50GB of data, with 30 days validity. 

On November 22, 2021, Telecom operator Bharti Airtel today announced tariff hikes for its prepaid offerings with effect from November 26. While, the base tariffed voice plan will now be offered at Rs 99 against the current Rs 79, the maximum has been fixed at Rs 2,999.

Similarly, the next day, Vodafone Idea announced up to 25% hike in its prepaid tariffs from November 25. The operator announced the move in an exchange filing with the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE). With the new prices, Vi prepaid plans are now more expensive by Rs 20 to Rs 500 per plan.

All the three major private telcos – Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea – have now increased their price plans to net more revenues for the customers.
