This week (May 27-June 2) saw several high-profile CXO movements in India’s technology industry – with some of the major appointments in key business positions. K. Krithivasan, the new chief executive officer (CEO) and managing director (MD) of Indian IT services company, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), takes charge from June, as Rajesh Gopinathan steps down officially on the last day of May. IT industry veteran Manoj Chugh joins the board of advisors of Singapore-based cloud firm CloudVerse and former Infosys executive Nitesh Bansal joins IT services firm R Systems as CEO and MD. Meanwhile, Puneet Chandok, head of Amazon Web Service (AWS)’ India and South Asia, resigns from the company. Indian IT services firm Wipro too saw two senior-level exits this week. K. Krithivasan to take charge as TCS CEO from June

K. Krithivasan, the new CEO and MD of Indian IT services company, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), will take charge from June 1, 2023. He will take over from Rajesh Gopinathan, who will continue to remain with the company till September 16, 2023 for transition. Krithivasan, whose appointment was announced by the company earlier in April 2023, was most recently appointed the CEO-designate and global head of the banking, financial services, and insurance business group at TCS. He has been part of the global technology sector for over 34 years, after joining TCS in 1989. He has held various leadership roles in delivery, customer relationship management, large program management, and sales at the IT firm. The term of his appointment as CEO is for five years till February 2027. (Read more)

IT industry veteran Manoj Chugh joins CloudVerse advisory board

Singapore-based multi-cloud management firm CloudVerse has announced the appointment of IT industry veteran Manoj Chugh to its board of advisors. Chugh has nearly four decades of experience in the IT industry, and held leadership positions in diverse business segments, including systems integration, computing, satellite communications, networking, information infrastructure, and global IT services. He has worked with both Indian and global organizations, such as HCL (now HCLTech), Wipro, and Cisco. An alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur, Chugh is regarded as one of the pioneers of the Indian Internet revolution. (Read more)

Former Infosys exec Nitesh Bansal joins R Systems as CEO

Nitesh Bansal, an ex-Infosys executive and a veteran in the digital and product engineering services industry has joined IT services firm R Systems as managing director and chief executive officer. Bansal has over two and a half decades of experience, out of which he spent close to 23 years at Infosys where he held several leadership roles, most recently serving as a senior vice president and global head of engineering services. A Chartered Accountant by profession, he has worked across India, Europe and Americas, and has pursued executive and leadership courses at INSEAD and Stanford Graduate School of Business. Puneet Chandok, head of AWS India & South Asia, resigns

Puneet Chandok, the president of commercial business, Amazon Web Service (AWS)’ India and South Asia, has resigned from the company. The move comes just weeks after the cloud giant pledged to invest over $12 billion in India by 2030. Chandok, who served as the President of AWS India and South Asia, joined the e-commerce group four years ago, according to his LinkedIn profile.Chandok joined the e-commerce brand four years ago. Vaishali Kasture, the head of the enterprise, mid-market & global business of AWS India and South Asia, is to assume the role of the interim leader for the same. (Read more)

Wipro sees two more senior-level exits

Indian IT services firm Wipro saw two senior-level exits this week. Mohd Haque, senior vice president and sector head, healthcare and medical devices and Ashish Saxena, who was leading the company's manufacturing and hi-tech business have reportedly resigned. Their exit comes weeks after Wipro veteran Gurvinder Sahni left the company to join IT company Persistent Systems as chief marketing officer. The latest resignations add to the list of over a dozen senior-level exits at Wipro in the last one year, most of whom have joined rival firms. (Read more)

Badar Afaq promoted to VP & group IT head at Max Group’s Antara Senior Living

Antara Senior Living Ltd, an Indian enterprise owned by Max India that runs independent senior living and retirement communities across the country has promoted its long-time executive Badar Afaq to vice president and group IT head at the organisation. Afaq, who joined Antara Senior Care in 2015 was head of IT at the same company. (Read more)

Bumble president Tariq Shaukat resigns, to move to advisory role

Tariq Shaukat, the president of Bumble, has stepped down from his position.  Shaukat, a key player at Bumble, has been crucial in the company's growth over the past three years. He is credited with expanding the user base and successfully leading the company through its IPO. According to the company, Shaukat will move into an advisory role effective September 1, while the search for his successor is underway. Shaukat previously held the position of President of Google Cloud at Google LLC from June 2016 to July 2020 before joining Bumble. (Read more)
